Finding Grant Money to Fund Your Innovative Tech Idea in New Jersey

In this Episode:

Kelly and Brian welcome back to the podcast, Judith Sheft, Executive Director at the New Jersey Commission on Science, Innovation, and Technology (CSIT), to discuss federal funding programs for NJ business owners.

Advice from Judith:

  • America’s Seed Fund helps fund early-stage small businesses that are looking to commercialize innovative technology through a competitive grant program.
  • It’s possible that multiple agencies might be interested in the technological work being done by one small business. For example, if a company is working on a rapid testing diagnosis, the National Institute of Health will probably be interested, but the Dept of Defense could also be interested in it. We can help companies figure out where they should be looking for funding for the work that they are doing.
  • A logical first step for NJ business owners is to contact someone at the New Jersey Small Business Development Centers. They can help you lay the groundwork for the grant programs we are discussing today.
